red bull airshow
July 31st and August 3rd 8:10PM
At the 2011 Celebration of Light, crowds in English Bay were stunned when Red Bull Air Race Pilot Pete McLeod buzzed over the beach in his single seater aircraft. A thrilling air show followed, with over 300,000 amazed upturned festival goers watching on.
2 years later Pete is back and better than ever in a brand new Edge 540 Aircraft for 2 stunning shows above English Bay.
Known within his industry as a lifetime aviator, Pete has cemented his position as Canada’s top ranked competition pilot and one of the country’s top solo aerobatic performers. At just 6-weeks old, Pete McLeod received his first flight in the family plane.
Having officially earned his aerobatic-instructor rating at the age of 18, Pete began to take competition more seriously inside his very first high-performance aerobatic aircraft, the Pitts Special.
With his outstanding finish against both National and World team members, Pete joined the air show circuit in 2006 and in 2007 became one of the youngest pilots in the world to hold an unrestricted surface level aerobatic waiver for high performance aerobatics. In 2008, Pete was chosen to participate in the Red Bull Air Race World Championships, making him not only the youngest rookie ever to qualify for the Red Bull Air Race, but the first Canadian.
